Ready to Go
We are downstairs finishing up breakfast before we head to the hospital, and a commercial just came on for our hospital. It was asking if we are up early today because your granddaughter is about to be born, or up late because she was coming too early. Anne is here with us and found it highly apropos (her word choice) of the moment.
Well, time take off. I hope to be able to use my cell phone to keep everybody updated throughout the day.

Full Moon
Owen and I are trying all the theories we have heard so far for sending women into labor. The bumpy car ride didn't seem to work. I thought the full moon last night might send me to the hospital for a Mother's day delivery. I'm still at home and feeling no labor pains, so tonight, spicy food!

Rumble Seats
Now that Owen is done with his final exam, he has been anxiously awaiting me going into labor. After our doctor's appointment yesterday, he was convinced that I would start last night. So, in an attempt to "help" me along with the process, he has decided to take the Honda Civic to all of our destinations. Last night as we were going over the dirt/gravel parking lot of the baseball parking lot and this morning as we were going for bagels through a construction zone, he was optimistic that would be just the "bump" I needed to put me into labor. Now, he will tell a very convincing story as to why he decided to take the Civic for each of these trips (vs. the smooth ride of the Equinox), but don't be fooled...as we were going over the bumpy terrain he asked if I was feeling any labor pains yet, so I know there was an ulterior motive. :)

Final Doctor's Appointment
We had our final doctor's appointment this afternoon. He said that that I'm 70-80% thinned and 1-1.5 cm dilated. That is some progress since our appointment last week, but doesn't sound like I'll be heading to the hospital tonight. We have an induction scheduled for Wednesday (5/13) at 7:30am. The doctor is hopeful that I will go into labor before then...I guess we'll see.
Tomorrow will be my last day of work before I start my maternity leave. My mom is getting into town on Sunday night, so if I haven't gone into labor before then, I'll spend Monday and Tuesday with her...good mother daughter bonding time!
I can't believe this is actually going to happen in the next week or so. I've been feeling good through this whole pregnancy...I'm hoping the next few days continue that trend.

Anxiously waiting
Now that we finally have everything in our house set up and ready for when the baby arrives, we have started the patient wait for labor to start. While I still have some concerns about final exams, we are finally at a point where we will be good to go if anything starts to happen. Our biggest concern currently is figuring out who exactly wins the Weiland baby pool given certain days of birth. It is quite the change from a week or two ago.
I have found myself being quite jumpy every time I hear any sort of noise from Laura. I keep hoping that it's a reaction to her first contraction or her water breaking, but that has not yet been the case. Laura has had trouble sleeping through the night and doing activities around the house, so I think she is finally at the point where she wants the baby out, too.
